A person’s first encounter with a skid could be their last. There are few things more frightening than losing control of your vehicle in bad weather conditions. Roadwise Driver Training has developed a comprehensive Skid Training course which provides a safe, but unforgettable, opportunity for drivers to:

  • experience the sensation of skidding

  • learn how to regain control of the car

  • avoid losing control in the first place!

Roadwise Driver Training is the only establishment in the North-East of Scotland to use a Skidmaster. The vehicle looks just like a conventional car, but hidden behind its conventional appearance is a sophisticated computer controlled traction system.  The Skidmaster is environmentally friendly and requires no special skid pan covered in oil or water to induce skids, nor does it have the disadvantages of some trolley mounted skid cars. The Skidmaster offers a very real experience – described by police driving instructors as “the nearest thing to the real thing you can get”. The training session covers the 3 main types of skid and how to identify, control and prevent them and also equips drivers with valuable safety advice for winter driving.

“Just back from Skid Training. A huge thank you to Doug for all his help! Thoroughly enjoyed the training. Everything was explained fully and made absolute sense. I will encourage the family to book a session! A must for driving in rural Scotland. Well worth the two and a half hour drive to the training centre!” (Elsa)

“I recently attended a skid training course with Doug. I found the training very informative and interesting with clear instructions. I really enjoyed the training session and will be recommending the course to my friends. Thank you.” (Shannon)

“I very much enjoyed the training course; it was something I had wanted to do for a long time. The instructor was very knowledgeable, explained things and made me feel at ease. I learned a lot within the time frame. It was educational and fun at the same time. I would recommend the training as I feel I will be more confident driving not only in cold weather conditions but in other weather situations that may cause a car to skid. The training makes you think and realise that simple techniques can stop a bad situation getting worse and perhaps not let you panic as you might have done before. I am pleased that I had heard about this course and made the decision to book it.” (Loraine)
